This is the update no airport blog covered — your July 25 blog said 3 sites shortlisted 25-45 km — but Pre-feasibility study done, Centre awaits Karnataka's formal proposal for Bengaluru's second airport — Deccan Herald July 28 graphic.
Per PC Mohan MP post July 27 — Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 774 dated July 23, 2026:
Question: Status of second airport sites on Kanakapura Road and Kunigal Road, land extent, feasibility timeline, approval and construction start, expansion at KIA including Terminal 2 Phase 2, current annual and daily passenger capacity vs footfall.
Answer by Minister of State Shri Murlidhar Mohol: AAI conducted Pre-feasibility Studies of three sites at the request of the Government of Karnataka and sent the report to GoK, but the Government of India has not received any subsequent proposal under the Greenfield Airports Policy from GoK or any developer.
Slide 2: Current annual handling capacity 51.5 million, average daily 141 thousand, average daily footfall in FY 26-27 till June 2026 approximately 123.8 thousand — terminal capacity expected to reach 80 MPPA by 2030 inclusive of Terminal 2 Phase 2 increasing capacity from 25 MPPA to 45 MPPA.
Translation: Pre-feasibility done for Kaggalipura, Harohalli and Chikkasolur — between 25-45 km, Kaggalipura and Harohalli located along Kanakapura Road, while Chikkasolur lies on Nelamangala–Kunigal stretch — but NO formal Greenfield application yet. That means delay.
